Promise, porcelain, glaze and hair, 2017

LIn my piece “promise” two porcelain leaves are gently jointed to represent the two figures in a relationship. The delicate porcelain ring symbolizes the beauty of lover’s promise of their permanent commitment. The rings are connected to the leaves with stings of my hair. It is fragile, vulnerable, organic, and decaying. We all meant “forever in love” at some point of our current or past commitments. Just like the change in season the love transformed the scene and we are in love again with a new partner or different version of each other if your relationship has evolved. Hoping that our newly announced commitment is strong enough to survive all seasons this time and once more.
